This selection includes the first appearance in print of Armstrong’s play, The forced marriage, “written chiefly with a view to expose a most cruel and absurd piece of tyranny too common in life.” His most successful and best-know piece, The art of preserving health, as well his Sketches: or essays on various subjects, written under the pseudonym Launcelot Temple, Esq., are some of the other works featured.
