Second edition. Complete with the AFAS Fund appeal flyer on rear endpaper. Buswell, who was not accepted into the British Army due to disability, volunteered for service in France with the American Field Ambulance Service. He was mentioned in dispatches and ultimately decorated with the Croix de Guerre. Buswell wrote these letters to personal friends, vividly describing the war-time conditions. It is one of the first accounts of the AFAS.
