Third edition. A school textbook consisting of edited excerpts from the Roman historian Titus Livius (Livy) by Karl Ludwig Bauer (1730-90). Bauer has been characterized as "learned and industrious and dull." The present copy, the third "more correct" edition of Bauer's work, is distinguished by an early owner's very strange ink drawings, with wah, apparently of Baucis and Philemon being transformed into linden and oak trees.
