First edition of this self-published novel by an African-American cardiologist, based upon his experiences at the Martin Luther King Jr. General Hospital in Los Angeles, now known as the King/Drew Medical Center. Mays was acting chief of cardiology, the medical director of the High Blood Pressure Foundation of Los Angeles, as well as a member of the board of directors of the American Heart Association.
