First edition of this comical story. A sequel to Lincoln’s earlier book Mr. Pratt, the tale of a man who comes to the seashore to escape the pressures of civilization, the present work is every bit as humorous. Lincoln (1870-1944), born into a sea-faring family in the Cape Cod area became one of the most prolific and successful writers of the so-called “Cape Cod novel.” Welch (1907-70) was a well-respected bibliographer of American children’s books. BMC, XV, 817.
