The present work includes a short biography of Dr. John Brown, as well as criticisms on several of Brown’s literary works, including Horae subsecivae, Locke and Sydenham, Notes on art, and Arthur Hallam. Having been published posthumously, the editor included a sketch on the life of the biographer, who was the nephew of Brown, at the end of the book.
