First edition of this scarce work on early Illinois and its citizens, from about 1800. Apparently most copies of this work were destroyed; according to Howes, "of 400 copies printed, 300 burned in the first Chicago fire." The author includes a great deal of Mormon-related information and material.
Reynolds was a justice of the Illinois Supreme Court, and eventually was elected governor in 1830.
