First edition published in England; it appears the first edition in English was printed in Philadelphia the prior year, all from the original French of 1864. An excellent biography of Columbus, with details on his various trips to the new world, including lovely illustrations. Written for all ages, it does not necessarily provide any new information over and above what you learned in school, but it is a fascinating story nonetheless.
