First edition. Clement (1834-1916) was an American traveler and writer whose main interests included art, architecture, and the lives of artists (she also devoted a few titles exclusively to women in the arts). After the death of her first husband, she married Edwin Forbes Waters, owner of the Boston Daily Advertiser. The present work details the history and famous sights of the beloved Italian city, with photographic images of its architectural treasures.
