First French edition. This inventive work of fiction has been attributed to several different authors, including Benjamin Victor and Daniel Defoe. It contains a series of stories in which each new one is prompted by a character and/or situation from the previous one. First printed in London in 1726, early editions included a description of Philadelphia, believed to be authentic according to Cox and Sabin. Later editions did away with this passage.
