In his very unique style, Hall provides an in-depth description of his travels and daily activities, from the Castle itself to the neighbors, other guests, and various events that occurred during his stay. His hostess was the Countess Purgstall, Caroline von Henikstein (1797-1844), the daughter of Austrian Jewish financier Joseph von Henikstein. A fascinating and readable book which truly takes the reader along with the writer on his wonderful adventures.
