The author describes Stanley’s successes and struggles during his many exciting expeditions, including the hardships of exploration life, the encounters with various people and animals he met on his travels, and the perilous journeys he undertook. This work also gives a full account of the fantastic discoveries of other tropical explorers, all of whom possessed “undaunted bravery in the face of danger” and earned “victories ov er bloodthirsty savages and wild beasts.”.
