First edition of Twain’s third travel book describing his month-long trip to central and southern Europe in the summer of 1878 with his friend, Reverend Joseph Twitchell (Harris in the book). The main goal of the trip was to walk most of the way, but the two travelers found themselves using different forms of transport as they traverse the continent. A very enjoyable and humorous work, in which the author blends autobiography and fiction, facts and tall tales.

Samuel L. Clemens (1835-1910), who wrote under the pen name Mark Twain, is considered to be one of America’s greatest humorists and writers of all times.
