Volume III with engraved frontispiece portrait. Contemporary smooth calf, spines with raised bands, title and volume in gilt with shelf or inventory number in gilt, red speckled fore-edges; paper flaw to last text leaf of Volume I, some soiling at the end of the last volume, otherwise interiors all in excellent condition. From the library of P[atrick] W[illiam] Donner (1904-1988), originally from Finland and Sweden, who moved to London in 1919 and was elected to Parliament in 1931, with his dated bookplate (1927) created by the famous English artist and illustrator E[dmund] H[ort] New (18871-1931).
