First edition in the original Russian of Pasternak’s beloved modern classic, in which he tells the tragic story of the physician and poet Yuri Zhivago during and after the Russian Revolution. The manuscript was opposed by Soviet censors as anti-Marxist and rejected for publication. Feltrinelli smuggled the manuscript to Italy and simultaneously published this edition and an Italian translation. Pasternak was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1958 for this book but under pressure from Soviet authorities he did not accept it. $ 3000.00.
