Second edition of this collection of poems, which includes a 92 page memoir by the editor. The Scottish poet and physician Moir (1798-1851) studied medicine at Edinburgh University, and actively practiced throughout his entire life. He was a regular contributor of poetry and prose to several magazines, most notably Blackwood’s, though he published under the pseudonym Delta. Moir’s writings did not consist solely of poetry; he authored several medical works, including two books on cholera and another entitled Outlines of the ancient history of medicine. Aird (1802-76), a Scottish poet, was editor of the Edinburgh Weekly Journal, as well as the Galloway and Dumfriesshire Heralds, and was a regular contributor to Blackwood’s Magazine.
