First edition. A fascinating work on an ailment that still afflicts us without cure, despite our advanced medical knowledge. This book could very easily have been published 200 years later. The author describes the causes of colds, including climate, which at the time was thought of and actually could lead to other serious maladies. Of particular interest is a discourse on one’s predisposition to suffering from colds, including personality such as inattention to taking care of oneself. A number of remedies (some quite familiar) are discussed.
