Like many similar works, the author includes methods for recognizing symptoms of and treating diseases as well as maintaining good health and thus preventing a wide range of illnesses. His approach is holistic, emphasizing the importance of pure air, proper diet, exercise, and cleanliness. Of particular interest is a chapter on directions for preparing food for both the healthy and the sick.
