First edition of this monograph on the taxonomy of certain mammals, including porcupine, bats, and glires, a family of rodents and lagomorphs (rabbits, hares and pikas). It was written for the author’s doctorate degree.

Wilhelm Lilljeborg (1816–1908) was a Swedish zoologist and member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. In addition to this work on mammals, he is known for his research on the Cladocera, or water fleas, of Sweden.
