First French edition, greatly enlarged with an additional article on blood transfusion. La Chapelle describes an attempt at direct dog to dog transfusion, explaining each stage of the operation in detail. He goes on to discuss blood transfusion in humans, referring to the work of Richard Lower and Edmund King. Cheyne also gives a very early attempt at numerically evaluating the nourishment within meats and grains.
