First edition of this valuable guide for tourists, as well as residents, traveling through the state of Illinois and the adjacent country. Peck (1789-1858) was a pioneer, missionary, writer and journalist who traveled throughout the region in order to obtain first hand information for his publication. This work was a cornerstone of primary printed literature of the region.
