First edition. This important work contains two of Brodie's many vital contributions to medicine, including the first description of intermittent claudication in man (on page 361). Also presented for the first time here is Brodie's test for insufficiency of the valves in varicose veins, as well as a brief description of his method of curing varicose ulcers. Additional subjects included in this collection are lectures on the duties and conduct of medical students and practitioners, strangulation, drowning, fractures, tumours, and causes of mortification.
